When is Enough, ENUF?

When should I call it quits?

The first thing people think about ending, is probably a relationship! However, this article is about eliminating toxins from your environment. So, relationships are most definitely the problem most of the time; but, don’t forget about substance abuse, mental abuse, and self-neglect!

20170515_131237.jpg

I am not an expert or clinical physiologist! But, I have been around a lot of people! What I know for sure is that, happy people take their happiness and sanity very seriously. They guard their happiness the same way I would guard my daughter if someone tried to hurt her! You have to do the same for yourself!

So, when is enough, ENUF?

You are the only person who has the potential to change your situation. So, no one can answer that question for you. However, if the person, substance, mental illness, etc. is causing you harm…. you need to seek help, run, get out! Do whatever you need to do to protect your happiness!

What is your goal? Do you want true happiness?

I once read, to get where you want to go in life, sometimes, you have to leave some people behind along the way! Sometimes you want to grow to become a better person but, your environment does not want to do the same. Remove yourself! A garden needs to be weeded so that the healthy plants will have the room and resources they need to grow healthy and beautiful. The same exact philosophy should be applied to your life! You deserve it! You will find those people who want to grow with you! Develop healthy self-love habits, fail forward, and protect your happiness along the way!

Love,

Priscilla

Why Should I have a Bucket List?

Why should you have a bucket list?

Because, damn it, life is too short! You don’t want to kick the bucket before you complete the list! Get going. Mentally, it is healthy to take a vacation!

What is on our bucket list?

I was looking at a list of the top road-trips traveled in the United States, a few days ago, trying to get inspired. I was surprised that we have already taken many of them. We have been blessed enough to see most of the United States and Canada by automobile. We have so many memories and a deeper love for our continent and the life living on it!

We highly recommend planning a road trip with someone you enjoy! It brings you closer together or makes you realize why you don’t want to be closer. Stop where you want. Research your stops or don’t. We plan our trips around food. Duh! Let the wind blow in your hair and enjoy the freedom. Download some of your favorite tunes, bring what makes you comfortable, and have a blast! Doctor’s order!

These are the top 5 road-trips we have loved so far:

  1. Blue Ridge Parkway: Mountains of  North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee
  2. Richardson Highway in Alaska: Valdez to Fairbanks
  3. Seward Highway in Alaska: Anchorage to Seward
  4. The Alaska Highway: Canada and Alaska
  5. The Redwoods Forest and Scenic Highway: California and the Pacific West Coast

These are the top 5 road-trips we hope to enjoy in the near future:

  1. The Outer Banks: North Carolina Coast
  2. Coast of Maine and North East Coast
  3. Overseas Highway: Florida Keys
  4. Hana Coast Line: Hawaii
  5. Wyoming to Montana: Yellowstone National Park

We promise that all of the road-trips, listed above, will knock your wheels off, not literally. Well, the Alaska highway could possible knock your wheels off, literally. Either way, we hope to have inspired you to get on the road. No matter the trip you choose, have a blast, and stay safe! 🙂 We are always planning our next trip! Follow us on social media!

Love,

Priscilla

Dear Women, Please Be Safe!

My heart is saddened as I write this article. I hope that some good comes out of the evil that happened, recently, in Columbia, South Carolina.

It is the town of my Alma mater. First of all, South Carolina is a wonderful place to travel, live, and go to college. It is my home state. I love it. South Carolina has some of the best food and friendliest faces you will ever encounter. The weather is great, year round. People, especially retirees, are flocking to South Carolina because the cost of living is low and the economy is thriving.

When a horrific act of pure evil rocks your home state it is so heartbreaking. I am writing this post to honor the life of Samantha Josephson. I hope this blog post is read by someone, somewhere, and I hope it saves at least one life to honor the life of Ms. Josephson. I have a young daughter. I cannot imagine how her family is feeling!

Dear Women,

I am writing you this letter to remind you that we, women of all size, ethnicity, and age, are capable of being independent, strong, smart, and sexy boss ladies in the 21st century! However, we are still vulnerable.

There are men out there who still believe that women are inferior beings. There are still men out there who believe that if you are not accompanied by a male chaperone, you are fair game! There are people out there who are pure evil! Protect yourself, stay alert, and stick together!

Love,

A Concerned Mother

Please bless our daughters and sons with a better world!

Here are a few tips to stay safe and hopefully save a life!

  • Let someone know where you are going.
  • Stick together. So, so, so important.
  • I typically feel safer using public transportation with a lot of other people vs. me and a cab driver. I will not ride in a cab alone.
  • Stay with the crowd.
  • Make sure your phone is charged and memorize an emergency contact number.
  • Don’t get too intoxicated. If you have a few drinks, go to a well known pub. Watch the bartender make your drinks.
  • Never accept a drink from someone that is not the bartender!
  • Never, ever, ever leave with some person you just met.
  • Be vigilant.
  • Follow your gut. If it feels weird, get out fast!
  • Stay out of dark areas.
  • Park your car near a door, camera, or light.
  • Make sure you stop for fuel at a well lit service station.
  • Yell, scream, fight if you are harassed. Make a scene. Set off the alarm on the car. Pull the fire alarm in an elevator or apartment complex.
  • Take a self-defense class.
  • Carry pepper spray.
  • Learn to shoot a gun and/or get a concealed weapon’s permit.
  • Tip from the Oprah Show: Never let them get you to the next location. They will be in more control there.

Written to honor Samantha Josephson’s life!

Why Should You Talk to the Locals, Check Reviews, and Pay Attention?

20170618_142355

We love to travel. We have put many hours in the seats of airplanes, automobiles, and boats exploring this beautiful planet! We have seen some of the most beautiful places in the world. Every place we have visited has had one thing in common: amazing people who want to share their culture and their town!

Traveling is good for your health! But, it can also be dangerous, spendy, and stressful. Here are a few tips to make it more enjoyable.

20190316_134446

Why ask the locals for advice?

The locals know about all the hot spots. We have found that you can find out so much information by asking the people who work at the hotel. They are so informative. All you have to do is ask!

They know where the best food is. They know which tourist attractions are worth wasting your money on. Go where the locals go. Ask what a local typically does on a Saturday night around town. They may not tell you where their favorite fishing hole is but they are probably willing to share their favorite “watering” hole!

Why should you check the reviews?

There are so many review websites out their today. Yelp is my favorite! Before you waste your hard earned money, check what others have to say. After all, they have already wasted or not wasted their money there.

Check the town websites or local news for events. To save money, use websites that offer discounts, such as Groupon.

Why should you pay attention to your surroundings?

Especially in an unfamiliar area, pay attention to your surroundings. If the vibe seems sketchy and you feel uncomfortable, get out! If you pull up to a restaurant and no one is in the parking lot during a peak time, run away!

Traveling can be such a fun, educational, and inspiring experience! Hopefully, these travel tips will inspire you to take the path less traveled, but carefully!

Love,

Priscilla

Foodie Traveler

There are two things in my life, other than friends and family, that I love so much I could not live without. What, you ask, could be on the same level as the love you have for your family and friends?

The first is food…duh! How did I figure this out? Well, I am the pickiest eater I know. I refuse to waste calories. So, when I eat, I want it to be good. I have grown into quite the home chef, according to family and friends, because I am typically not satisfied after leaving a restaurant. What makes it even worse, I am from the south, we know not to be rude. So, we typically push our plates to the side and never return to the restaurant. Paying a bill for food that was inedible20171028_155650 and/or unsatisfying is enough to break any foodies heart.

The second love of my life is travel and adventure. Most of my life was spent in the southern United States. I knew from an early age that I wanted to become more cultured. If I have a few minutes to watch television, I am either watching, the History Channel, Travel Channel, or a cooking show. To me, travel is all about learning new cultures and history, seeing our planet so that we want to preserve it, and experiencing new cuisines. So, I love to travel too. But, I think I love to travel so much because of my love for eating new cuisines.

The good thing for me is that travel and food go together like peas and carrots!
